Abstract:

Tuberculosis is a chronic infection seen in poor socioeconomic societies causing significant global health burden. Abdominal tuberculosis is a form of Extrapulmonary tuberculosis seen in around 1-3% of all Tuberculosis cases globally. Abdominal Tuberculosis involvement includes gastrointestinal tract, peritoneum, visceral organs, and intra-abdominal lymph nodes either singly or in combination. Mostly symptoms are nonspecific and vague. High index of suspicion should be kept in Endemic regions. Early detection can be done by using Imaging, Microbiology, PCR & IGRA test. Early initiation of Anti Tubercular Therapy leads to elimination of Tuberculosis bacteria and prevents Long-term complications. In this article we are presenting a case of chronic tuberculosis which was not evaluated in previous admissions now presented with massive upper gastrointestinal bleed.
